BibleBased WebSites Email Configuration
Outlook Express is the most commonly used email application, while I don't personally suggest it,
I will use it as the example to configure your email. All email applications will need to be
setup the same way, but you will have to change the configuration in a different way.
I reccommend Mozilla Thunderbird for email as it contains a spam system integrated into it, though
our servers use state-of-the-art spam filtering, more is always good... Plus you may use multiple
email accounts and one of those might not use any type of filtering, meaning you are left to your
own devices. I also really like Eudora for email. I actually prefer it over Thunderbird. Mozilla
has taken over development of Eudora, and it is currently in beta form. While it works, I've noticed
a few minor bugs, so you may want to wait a while before using it. It really is not too much different
from Thunderbird.
Step 1
Open Outlook Express and Click on Tools at the top and select 'Accounts'
Step 2
You may or not have other accounts setup, regardless, select the 'Add' button on the right and
select 'Mail...' This will present you with a screen to setup a new mail account.
Step 3
Enter in your name as you would like it to be seen by anyone you send email to.
Step 4
Enter the email address that was assigned to you.
Step 5
Select POP3 account.
Our SMTP Server is: calvary.biblebasedwebsites.com
Out POP3 Server is: calvary.biblebasedwebsites.com
Step 6
Type in your login name and your password. Typically, your login name is the same as your
email address, without the @domain.com.
Step 7
Once completed you should be returned to the 'Internet Accounts' window. Select the account you
just created, and click on 'Properties'. Verify this information is correct, and copy your
email address into the Reply Address Box, this helps with mailing lists and such.
Step 8
Click on the Servers Tab at top, and make sure you spelled the information correctly, down where
it says, 'Outgoing Mail Server', check the box and click on 'Settings'.
Step 9
Click on 'Log on using' and type in your FULL email address, along with your password.
Click Okay!
Step 10
Finally, click on the 'Advanced' Tab at the top and click a couple buttons.
Outgoing mail (SMTP): 465
Click on 'This server requires a secure connection'.
Incoming mail (POP3): 995
Click on 'This server requires a secure connection'.
Click apply and you're done! If it doesn't work call me...
This should allow you to connect to our servers and send email or receive email from anywhere
in the world that you have an internet connection. Regardless of your ISP or where you are, our
servers will authenticate you using a secure certificate and your username and password to send
email.
Outlook Express will verify the certificate everytime you open Outlook Express. It will tell you
it cannot verify the certificate because it is not signed by a known trusted provider. I have
created my own certificate and signed it myself, rather than purchasing a signed certificate.
Just click on 'Yes' to continue using this server and all will be well.
Please Note: ONLY Outlook Express does this. The other email programs only
require you to do this once, afterwards they just remember your settings...
